JOB SUMMARY
The Document Controller owns and maintains the complete technical data package for every glove style moving through R&D — from initial development through stage-gate approval and production release. This role ensures each data package (specs, BOMs, tech packs, test reports, VPGs, and compliance records) is complete, accurate, version-controlled, and audit-ready at every milestone, while acting as the single point of accountability for data package integrity across the glove development pipeline.
Â
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and assemble the full technical data package (VPG) for each glove style — including product specifications, testing/validation reports, and packaging details — ensuring nothing is missing, outdated, or inconsistent before a package moves to the next stage-gate.
- Enforce version control, routing, and approval workflows within the PLM system so every document in a data package reflects the current, approved revision.
- Track data package completeness against each product's milestones, flagging missing documentation or approvals before they become a bottleneck to launch.
- Partner with R&D designers, PLMs, Sourcing, Quality, and Manufacturing to collect and validate technical data, resolving discrepancies between specs, BOMs, and test data.
- Coordinate with Quality/Regulatory to ensure data packages include required compliance documentation (CPSIA, Prop 65, other applicable PPE/consumer regulatory markings) before release.
- Maintain a master log or tracker of all active glove styles in development, their data package status, and outstanding action items.
- Archive and retain completed data packages per records-retention requirements, ensuring historical packages remain retrievable for audits or reference.
- Support internal and customer/vendor audits by pulling complete, organized data packages on request.
Â
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
EDUCATIONÂBachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE |Â PREFERRED SKILLS
2–5+ years in document control, quality systems, or regulatory documentation in a manufacturing environment (PPE or consumer goods preferred).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel (complex formatting/templates in Word; formulas, pivot tables, and data tracking in Excel).Â
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (for reviewing, marking up, or editing data package drawings).Â
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, and test reports.Â
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills — able to catch a missing or outdated document before it becomes a launch risk.Â
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable chasing down stakeholders for missing approvals or data.Â
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent data packages/product styles and meet stage-gate deadlines.
