What We Do

First American is seeking a Risk Analyst to help strengthen our risk management and control environment while driving meaningful improvements across the business. An ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, enjoys digging into data and business processes to uncover risks and root causes, and can turn findings into actionable recommendations. This role offers the opportunity to partner across the organization, conduct risk assessments, identify operational and regulatory vulnerabilities, monitor remediation efforts, and help improve the processes and controls that protect the business. We’re looking for someone who is curious, detail-oriented, collaborative, and excited to make an impact within a growing and evolving risk management function.

* This is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance three days per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

 WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Analyze risk and business data to identify trends, emerging risks, changes in exposure, control gaps, and areas requiring further attention.

  • Support ERM reporting cycles by coordinating and validating business unit submissions and developing dashboards, presentations, and other materials for leadership and governance committees.

  • Conduct risk assessments and analyze business processes to identify key risks, controls, dependencies, ownership, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Perform root cause analysis and develop fact-based findings and recommendations to strengthen controls, mitigate risk, and improve business processes.

  • Support the development and monitoring of key risk indicators (KRIs), risk metrics, thresholds, and other measures of the Company’s risk profile.

  • Monitor risk issues, corrective actions, and remediation activities, partnering with stakeholders to promote timely resolution.

  • Maintain accurate ERM records and support the development and enhancement of risk methodologies, procedures, templates, tools, and program documentation.

  • Partner across business units and corporate functions to strengthen risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Independently manage assigned priorities, exercise sound judgment, and escalate significant matters when appropriate.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in risk management, business analysis, internal audit, compliance, controls, or a related discipline.

  • Working knowledge of risk management practices, including risk identification, assessment, controls, mitigation, monitoring, remediation, and reporting.

  • Familiarity with ERM frameworks such as COSO ERM, ISO 31000, or similar frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, evaluate information, and develop fact-based conclusions.

  • Experience supporting deadline-driven reporting and coordinating deliverables across multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to analyze and communicate information through dashboards, charts, presentations, and other reporting formats.

  • Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, manage competing priorities, and appropriately escalate risk matters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

IDEALLY, YOU'LL ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Financial services, title insurance, mortgage, settlement services, banking, insurance, or another regulated industry.

  • Enterprise or operational risk management, compliance, internal audit, or another second-line risk function.

  • Risk assessments, KRIs, risk appetite metrics, issue management, remediation tracking, or governance reporting.

  • Process walkthroughs, stakeholder interviews, root cause analysis, and development of risk mitigation or corrective action plans.

  • Preparing risk reporting and presentations for management or governance committees.

  • Developing or improving ERM procedures, methodologies, templates, tools, and documentation.

  • Power BI, Power Query, or similar data analysis and visualization tools.

  • GRC platforms such as AuditBoard, ServiceNow, or similar systems.
