Overview

Preschool Coordinator - City Heights

The Preschool Coordinator will plan, develop, and implement program directives and goals at the Preschool site in conjunction with YMCA of San Diego County and Community Care Licensing. Supervise and evaluate staff, and act as a contributing member of the branch and department YMCA team. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for maintaining staff files and compliance of standards at all sites.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:15am to 5:15pm

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with school personnel and parents to maintain positive public relations, and ensure receipt of pertinent information 
  • Provide leadership in establishing a positive environment in which youth and families are treated with respect and dignity 
  • Perform frequent site visits to ensure quality, implementing necessary changes and taking corrective action when necessary 
  • Assist in supervising and evaluating staff, youth leaders and program volunteers 
  • Attend all required regional and countywide meetings, in-services and trainings 
  • Promptness, dependability and professionalism during assignments 
  • Remain informed on current child care programs in order to relay information to families 
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation 
  • Physical ability to lead activities such as sports, games, academic assistance, assemblies, transitions, and other program activities 
  • Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED 
  • Must meet the educational requirements of the programs of supervision; Minimum 15 college units (9 Units in ECE Core Courses, 3 units in Infant-Toddler Care and 3 Units in Admin); AA or BA in Education, Child Development or related field preferred 
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in child and youth development, education, or comparable setting required 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience supervising early childhood education program site required 
  • Knowledge of CSS (Community Support Services) resources preferred 
  • Familiarity with YMCA CYD (Child and Youth Development) programs preferred 
  • Experience in fundraising preferred 
  • Event management experience, including vendor communication, and staff appreciation 
  • Experience with Y branding, marketing, and Y SharePoint preferred 
  • Criminal record fingerprint clearance from DOJ/FBI & CACI required prior to working 
  • TB test clearance within 60 days prior to employment or prior to visiting a school site 
  • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training prior to working with program participants 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:  
    • American Red Cross 
    • American Heart Association 
    • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range
