Position Overview

At International Motors, the Senior Packaging Analyst plays a key role in designing and optimizing packaging solutions that ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective flow of materials across the supply chain. This role serves as the plant’s packaging subject matter expert and partners closely with internal teams and external suppliers to support new product launches, ongoing operations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The Senior Packaging Analyst ensures packaging strategies align with safety, quality, manufacturing, logistics, and business objectives while driving innovation, sustainability, and scalability across all packaging systems.

 

San Antonio Manufacturing runs a 4x10 production schedule (Mon-Thurs, 5:30AM - 4:00PM).This role will support production and may need to cover production recovery times including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Packaging Development

  • Serve as the plant representative in early-stage packaging development, partnering with the Central Packaging team to ensure plant requirements are integrated from the start
  • Design packaging solutions that meet requirements for product protection, functionality, stackability, cost efficiency, and logistics performance
  • Develop specialized packaging solutions (including racks) for new programs and technical requirements
  • Evaluate and implement packaging changes driven by product modifications or engineering updates

Cross-Functional Support & Technical Interface

  • Act as the primary plant contact for all packaging-related topics with suppliers, including improvement requests and packaging plan updates
  • Support daily operations through real-time problem-solving with Assembly, Production, Safety, Process Engineering/NPI, Quality, Transportation, and Procurement teams
  • Provide technical expertise to ensure smooth material flow and packaging readiness across operations

Problem Solving & Deviation Management

  • Investigate packaging-related process deviations and lead root cause analysis efforts
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure long-term stability and performance
  • Ensure sustainable resolution of packaging issues impacting production or logistics flow

Packaging Optimization

  • Analyze packaging utilization and improve fill rates to maximize transport efficiency
  • Lead initiatives focused on cost reduction, ergonomic handling, and logistics optimization
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

Investment & Maintenance Management

  • Oversee packaging-related investment planning, including development and lifecycle management of special racks and packaging assets
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for reusable and special packaging systems to ensure reliability and uptime

Repackaging (Logistics Center) Support

  • Support and monitor repackaging activities at logistics centers when required
  • Develop long-term strategies to reduce or eliminate repackaging through packaging design improvements and supplier collaboration

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience of experience in packaging or operations experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • Master's degree and no experience

OR

  • At least 3 years of experience of experience in packaging or operations experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
