Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: PKM Steel Service, Inc. - Salina, KS 67401Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: ManufacturingSUMMARY: Perform all tasks required to set up, operate and maintain equipment to produce parts in compliance with contract/customer specifications and company policies and/or procedures conforming to American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Proper set up, use and maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to, shears, punch and break presses, drills, grinders, copers, plate strippers, splitters, saws, iron workers, planers, threaders, rolls and bevels to ensure quality production. Set up and operate associated tooling/equipment and accessories as required. Proper set up, use and maintenance of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, chains, slings, hooks, couplers, gantry cranes and overhead bridged cranes. Verify accuracy of work per AISC, customer and internal quality control standards, guidelines and restrictions. Work from written/verbal instructions, blueprints, patterns, orders, lists, and scheduling practices. Handle movement of materials, supplies, tools and equipment to and from the work area as required. Perform routine preventive maintenance including, but not limited to, lubricating, cleaning and making minor adjustments and replacement of filters. Assist as required in upkeep of production facility. Purchase, proper use and maintenance of all required personal tools and safety equipment. Proper use and maintenance of all company tools, equipment, supplies and computer hardware and software. Maintain clean and orderly work and break areas through proper storage of materials, supplies, tools and equipment. Accurately complete all required documentation including, but not limited to, time cards, maintenance request forms, safety forms and personnel forms. Effectively communicate changes in priorities or completion dates due to unscheduled projects of higher priority or urgency. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Accurate knowledge of AISC standards and procedures relative to allowable tolerances, finishes and locations. Knowledge and skill in machining a variety of material types in varying thickness and configurations. Knowledge and demonstrable skill in trouble‑shooting, operating and maintaining various equipment.   Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of material handling equipment and all accessory tools/equipment used in the fabrication process including, but not limited to, pneumatic hand tools, standard hand tools and measuring equipment. Ability to read tape measure fractions down to 1/16. Ability to understand and follow complex blueprints, directions, instructions and other forms of production communications. Ability to work with other areas and departments to coordinate work flow and achieve optimum output. Demonstrates high degree of professional behavior, appearance, work ethic, attention to detail, honesty and reliability. Demonstrates ability to manage stress constructively and maintain professional, positive, even temperament during periods of frustration, ambiguity and change. Demonstrable skills in interpersonal communication and conflict management.
