External Job Description
As a Territory Sales Manager for American Building Supply âABSâ(a subsidiary of JELD-WEN), you will own a Northern California territory and be directly responsible for growing revenue, expanding market share, and strengthening longâterm customer partnerships.
In this role, youâll spend 3â4 days per week in the field meeting with customers, uncovering new opportunities, conducting product training, and positioning ABS as the goâto partner for door and hardware solutions. Youâll have the autonomy to make pricing decisions, the support of a strong inside sales team, and the backing of a company with decades of industry credibility.

Youâll also spend 1â2 days managing followâups, reviewing quotes, planning your pipeline, and collaborating with leadership to drive strategic growth. Overnight travel is required based on territory needs. This position reports directly to the Outside Sales Manager.

Purpose of the Role
This role is essential to the continued growth of ABS. As a Territory Sales Manager, you represent the company in every customer interaction. Your ability to build trust, provide solutions, and maintain strong relationships directly impacts our longâterm success.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct biâweekly visits with key accounts to review opportunities, address issues, and support customer needs.
- Provide training on the Talon online ordering system and on all ABS product lines.
- Submit weekly call reports summarizing customer interactions, opportunities, and followâups.
- Manage and process customer credits when needed.
- Follow up on quotes, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
- Build a loyal customer base by delivering exceptional service and leveraging ABSâs strong industry reputation.
- Participate in job site sales visits when required.
- Conduct vendor rideâalongs to support product education and relationship building.
- Maintain a professional, solutionsâoriented approach when challenges arise.
- Collaborate closely with the inside sales team to ensure seamless customer support.
- Exercise pricingand discount authority when necessary to capture market share.
- Customer training on all ABS products and systems
- Meeting or exceeding budget expectations

Required Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree and 4-6 years of sales experience or equivalent combination
- Proficiency in Excel and Word
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and followâthrough
- Ability to learn quickly in a fastâpaced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
- Selfâstarter with strong organizational and timeâmanagement skills
- Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight stays
- Ability to drive for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the door and hardware industry
- Additional education or certifications related to sales or construction
- Experience analyzing sales data and translating insights into strategy
- Previous experience in the building materials or construction industry
- Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience
- Strong relationshipâbuilding and negotiation skills

Expected pay for this role is between $83,500.00 to $139,100.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.â
