JOB SUMMARY: The Tool Maker Group Leader (GL) is responsible for learning and performing a variety of assigned manual duties to build, repair, and maintain production tools, dies, and fixtures for the operation of Indium Corporation machinery. Work is primarily directed and performed under close or general supervision.
JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):
- Manage department workload to meet delivery schedulesÂ
- Create, read, and interpret complex drawings and diagrams, perform related tasks, and mentor subordinate employees to interpretÂ
- Identify and troubleshoot key areas of improvement in operating functions and communicate these effectively to managementÂ
- Communicate effectively at a technical level within the department and with production and engineering departmentsÂ
- Uphold the standards necessary to maintain our business certifications and to maintain excellent quality standards and practices associated with themÂ
- Fabricate tooling as specified and scheduled by the Tool Design Manager and issue the same to the tool libraryÂ
- Choose, set up, and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, sharpeners, and grinders to produce toolingÂ
- May estimate labor hours and materials to build as quoted tooling or repairsÂ
- Lubricate machines and maintain department equipment as necessary to create required toolingÂ
- Complete all required documentation to track work, record scrap, and maintain the accuracy of completed parts and required inventory
- Suggest changes in design involving application, economy, and process of manufacture to proper personnelÂ
- Perform sharpening, CAD functions, and welding operations when necessaryÂ
- Make determinations regarding a variety of support tools such as mics, gauges, lathes, dies, and hand toolsÂ
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Â
- 3 years of tool and die experience preferredÂ
- Minimum 2 years experience at Indium Corporation with close tolerance fabrication of die and fixtures, or equivalent outside experienceÂ
- CNC programming skills a plusÂ
- Demonstrated ability to design custom tooling and fixturesÂ
- Ability to interpret dimensional drawingsÂ
- Leadership and supervisory skillsÂ
- Experience with machining equipment, including EDMÂ
- Good oral and written communication skillsÂ
- Basic organizational skillsÂ
- Basic to advanced math skillsÂ
- Basic organizational skillsÂ
- Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

$24.00 per hour - $37.00 per hour
($49,500 - $76,500 annually)
