Graco manufactures and markets premium equipment to move, measure, control, dispense and spray a wide variety of fluid and powder materials. What does that mean? Well, we pump peanut butter into your jar, and the oil in your car. We glue the soles of your shoes, the glass in your windows and the screen on your phone. We spray the finish on your vehicle, coatings on your pills, the paint on your house and texture on your walls. Graco is part of your daily life.

This position provides support to new product development and standard product engineering by building product prototypes and test models.  Position performs and documents product performance testing, product qualification testing and product auditing. 

What You Will Do at Graco

  • Build up test prototypes

  • Develop new test procedures for corporate use

  • Make test set-ups

  • Collect test data and monitor long term tests

  • Report test results, including completion of lab test request form, writing formal reports when appropriate

  • Participate in lab maintenance and housekeeping activities

  • Actively participate in quality improvement activities

  • Actively take initiative to improve technical proficiency

  • Knowledge and use of Graco test procedures

  • Interpret test results and suggest and implement corrective action when appropriate

  • Outline procedures to be included in the instruction manual on new products

  • Design and construction of test fixtures

  • Plan tests with minimal input, including working to industry-standard test procedures (ex.: NFPA Impulse Test Procedure)

  • Coordinate/plan/schedule test facilities with other technicians and departments

  • Follow up on off-site testing including visits to customer sites as directed

  • Participate in specifying and obtaining lab equipment and facilities

What You Will Bring to Graco

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent

  • Demonstrated ability to set up all tests with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated ability to develop test procedures and plans

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate corrective action based on sound interpretation of test results

  • Excellent mechanical and/or electrical aptitude

  • Knowledge of general lab practices and equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to work with computers, data acquisition equipment, lab instrumentation, and shop tools

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Familiarity with lab instrumentation

The base pay range for this position is listed below, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation.  If you are hired, your final base hourly rate will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, competencies, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors, we will also consider internal equity of our current employees.  Please keep in mind that the range provided is the full base salary range for the role.  Hiring at or near the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
