SUMMARY:
Provides engineering support for all aspects of assigned product line to ensure functionality, quality, cost, and attainment to schedule by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Selects and designs if necessary appropriate fixtures, workholding/tooling, etc. required for efficient machining of SGS product. Tooling must have a focus on flexibility, quality, cost, and manufacturing ease.Â
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software (CREO), Company business system (SAP) and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
- Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and provide appropriate manufacturing solutions.
- Supports quoting process by providing cost estimates for tooling and machining including outsource operations.
- Create shop packs, including routers, part prints, process sheets for all releases.
- Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is manufactured based on the intended functionality of the design.
- Develops and maintains procedures and processes that support and protect core product technologies.
- Reviews engineered drawings to ensure manufacturability and appropriate application of GD&T.
- Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company.
- Analyzes the risks of a new design or process’ and communicates results accordingly.
- Implements the product design within the required schedule and budget parameters.
- Assists in specifying and procuring materials needed for manufacturing. Analyze, evaluate and work with supply chain to coordinate the procurement of new materials to support manufacturing of products.
- Assists other team members in quoting, sales order entry or any other related task to achieving the business unit’s objectives.
- Identifies any problems with the implementation or available resources that may affect the schedule or budget and communicates such problems accordingly.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering assistance required by operations to accomplish the business unit’s goals.
- Assist with the correct implementation and adherence of a business and quality system that supports ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and future AS9100 initiatives.

JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, OR EXPERIENCE:
- CAD experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred but extensive Gleason experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A basic understanding of cylindrical & bevel gears and workholding equipment is a plus.
- The individual needs to be a goal-oriented team player.
- This individual must be a demonstrated self-starter able to work with others as well as carry out written and verbal instructions.
- This individual must have the ability & desire to interact directly with customers. Some travel & entertaining customers required.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Six Sigma or Lean Training Certification is a plus.
- Work holding equipment design experience; Gleason product line knowledge; project management skills; manufacturing background; exposure to Curvic® couplings; ability to assist in accurately quoting and managing projects are all considered beneficial skills.

Travel requirements are <10% of the time and generally within the United States. On a rare occasion some international travel may be required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Education Level: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
- Specialized area of study: Bachelor’s Degree – Mechanical Engineering
- Education and related experience: 5-7 year(s) related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
