Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: 3D - Rochester Hills, MI 48309The 3-Axis Laser Operator safely sets up, operates, and monitors laser-cutting equipment to produce quality sheet-metal components. This role follows engineering drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and production schedules while maintaining a safe and organized work area. Set up and operate 3-axis laser machines to cut sheet-metal parts. Verify correct material type, thickness, quantity, program, and job requirements before production. Load and unload sheet material, finished parts, skeletons, and scrap using appropriate equipment. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, tape measures, gauges, and other measuring tools. Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, burrs, incomplete cuts, scratches, warping, and other defects. Make basic operator adjustments and troubleshoot minor machine, material, or cutting-quality issues. Perform routine machine care, including nozzle and lens cleaning, consumable changes, and general housekeeping. Complete job travelers, inspection records, production paperwork, and material traceability documentation. Follow all safety requirements, PPE expectations, quality procedures, and 5S practices. Assist in other fabrication or production areas as needed. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Previous manufacturing, fabrication, CNC machine operation, or laser experience preferred. Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, job travelers, and basic measuring tools. Familiarity with sheet-metal materials such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to quality and safety. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, push, pull, or move up to pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
