SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an Assistant Category Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies for pad-mounted and skidded equipment. This role will focus on optimizing costs, quality, and delivery while improving Supply Chain efficiencies and maintaining supplier relationships.Â

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in development and implementation of category strategy for assigned categoriesÂ
Identify and engage with internal stakeholders across engineering, design phase and operations to capture category requirementsÂ
Assess potential opportunities for categories including spend segmentation, category maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysisÂ
In collaboration with Supply Chain management, develop sourcing strategy for categories detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefitsÂ
Adapt the strategy as business, market, and economic environments changeÂ
Support annual category reviews including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and risk mitigation strategiesÂ
Manage relationships with key suppliersÂ
Maintain relationship with suppliers at the appropriate levelÂ
Support in the development of and facilitate supplier business reviewsÂ
In collaboration with Supply Chain quality management and operating group quality management, monitor supplier’s quality and delivery performanceÂ
Leverage supplier relationship to assist Team Members with expedites as neededÂ
Assist with the Financial Success of CategoryÂ
Assist with the development of strategies to achieve financial and category initiative goalsÂ
Assist with the development of pricing strategies for project proposals as requested
Assist with monthly and annual category financial reviews with project information, metrics, forecast and strategy, if applicable
Support material cost reductions for assigned categories
Assist in supplier contract negotiationsÂ
Aid in developing negotiation strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, defining switching costs, and building total cost of ownership (TCO)Â
Closely monitor market drivers affecting the category including raw material pricing and availability, supplier capacity, industry disruptions and new products as applicable.
Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, engineering, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experienceÂ
Minimum 7 years of experienceÂ
Current driver’s licenseÂ
Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and proceduresÂ
Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skillsÂ
Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and negotiations skillsÂ
Effective communication and presentation skillsÂ
Strong organization, planning and decision-making skillsÂ
Ability to influence without authorityÂ
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedbackÂ
Technical understanding of power conversion technology
Ability to travel up to 20-30%Â

The base pay range for this role is $92,300 - $138,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Â
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
