Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will support BDO Government Services accounting operations by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial information, assisting with reconciliations and journal entries, and helping maintain accurate accounting records and processes.

Job Duties:

  •  Assists in the preparation of monthly account reconciliations and journal entries, including follow-up on outstanding items
  •  Assists with accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany entries
  •  Supports the application of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  •  Prepares and analyzes financial data to support reporting requirements and decision-making
  •  Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  •  Supports annual audit activities by gathering documentation and responding to requests
  •  Prepares ad hoc reports, schedules, and analyses, as needed
  •  Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support financial reporting accuracy and efficiency
  •  Other duties, as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree, required; with a focus in Accounting or Finance, preferred

Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of general accounting experience, required
  • Prior experience working within a professional services firm such as accounting, financial services, business advisory and/or banking industries, preferred

License/Certifications:

  • CPA, preferred 

Software

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required
  • Prior experience using Unanet and/or NetSuite ERP, preferred

Language(s)

  • N/A

  • Displays superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working and communicating effectively with professionals at all levels
  • Able to work in a deadline-drive environment and handle multiple projects / tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Strong data entry skills 
  • Possesses superior customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of information
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the accounting processes

 

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $60,000 - $80,000
Maryland Range:  $60,000 - $80,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $60,000 - $80,000
