The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is engrained in our community and is looking for a Deputy Director of Emergency Management to assists the Director in facilitating the county-emergency management function. This position assists the Director in providing the overall leadership, planning, direction, control, administrative duties, management, and coordination of a countywide emergency management program. In addition, this position manages and coordinates Goodhue County's emergency 911 addressing system and ensures compliance with its Rural Identification Ordinance of 1988 and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) standard throughout the county.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previously experience in public safety and/or emergency management.
  • Must satisfy requirements for FEMA Basic Academy Program through the State of MN HSEM or NDEMU within two years of employment.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications within one year of employment: IS-100, IS 120, IS-200, IS 230, ICS-700, ICS-800.
  • Valid Driver's License.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related Public Safety degree.
  • Possess FEMA Basic Academy or Emergency Management Certification through the State of MN HSEM.
  • Current certifications in National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-29, IS-235, IS 240, IS 241, IS 242, IS 247 ICS-300


Compensation & Benefits:

County employees receive competitive pay and benefit offering. Starting pay for this position is $28.02 per hour. (The full salary range for this position is $58,281-$90,355 annually.)
