Job Description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian  Athletic Trainer to provide services for the  Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Academy in Quantico, Virginia, located approximately 36 miles outside Washington, D.C.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates must meet the following requirements:

 

  • Strength and Conditioning Certification/Specialist credential through ACSM, Cooper Institute, or equivalent organization
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current, relevant experience
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to travel between and support multiple locations within Quantico, Virginia, as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Athletic Trainer will perform day-to-day clinical operations of the Athletic Training Program and provide care to FBI New Agent Trainees (NATs), National Academy (NA) students, staff, and other program participants under the direction of the Supervisory Physician Medical Officer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Clinical Care and Injury Management

  • Prevent, recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care for athletic injuries
  • Develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans for musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses
  • Utilize current evidence-based standards, modalities, and manual therapy techniques within the scope of practice for Certified Athletic Trainers in Virginia
  • Apply protective and injury-prevention devices such as athletic tape, bandages, braces, and related supports

Training Support and Emergency Response

  • Attend and provide medical coverage for scheduled high-risk activities, including:
    • Physical Fitness Tests (PFTs)
    • Point Runs
    • National Academy Challenge Runs
    • Defensive Tactics training
    • Other assigned events and training activities
  • Maintain awareness of Physical Training Unit (PTU), Defensive Tactics, and National Academy training programs and techniques
  • Serve as emergency medical personnel and function as an EMT when appropriately certified

Education and Injury Prevention

  • Educate FBI Physical Training Unit instructors and students on injury prevention strategies
  • Develop and deliver training materials related to:
    • Exercise science
    • Proper exercise techniques
    • Equipment utilization
    • Balance and strength development
    • Home exercise programs
    • Rehabilitation and recovery techniques

Administrative and Equipment Responsibilities

  • Perform medical documentation and maintain accurate patient records
  • Manage athletic training resources and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of athletic training equipment
  • Schedule equipment maintenance and calibration as needed
  • Follow universal precautions and infection control measures to reduce the transmission of communicable diseases
  • Prepare and submit monthly activity reports to the Supervisory Physician Medical Officer, Supervisory Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, or Contracting Officer Representative (COR)
