What You'll Do as a Billing Technician
- Create, maintain, and update client financial charts
- Prepare, review, and submit claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance
- Verify diagnoses, billing codes, and claim accuracy
- Post account changes and update billing systems
- Process manual claims when electronic submission isn't available
- Enter non-clinical financial data such as rent, co-pays, and court fees
- Research and resolve billing issues or liability questions
- Respond to client and payer inquiries
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of clerical, secretarial, billing, or accounting experience
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask
- Experience with third-party payer systems preferred
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Spanish speakers may qualify for a wage increase
