Description

Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture firm has an opportunity for a Survey Technician in their Portland office.

Responsibilities may include assisting with:


• CAD site design

• stormwater inspections

• construction administration

• Planning Board submissions

• Land survey field work

• Land survey drafting


Acorn’s current projects include:


• floodplain and watershed restoration

• municipal parks including artwork installations

• urban infill developments

• affordable housing projects throughout the State

• Rural & Urban Boundary Surveying

• Construction Layout


This is an exciting opportunity to assist a small, but growing firm with a variety of tasks. We offer opportunities to grow professionally, volunteer, collaborate on exciting projects and develop lasting relationships both inside and outside of our firm.  Please note that this is not a hybrid position and requires the selected candidate to be in-person, five days a week, based in our Portland office.


Requirements

 Capabilities and Credentials:

• No prior experience required

• Strong verbal and written communications skills

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form

• Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions, to perform tasks independently and to produce neat and accurate reports

• Commitment to working with integrity and in an ethical manner

• Ability to maintain safe work practices in a fast-paced work environment

• Dependable and willing to work outdoors in a variety of conditions and perform physical tasks

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, & HydroCAD

• Ability to work outside in a variety of conditions and perform physical tasks

• Strong ability to multi-task

• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office knowledge

• Basic knowledge of CAD, other Engineering/Technical skills preferred

• Basic understanding and knowledge of civil drawings, construction processes and construction codes preferred

• Valid driver’s license required
