The Commodity Manager – Semiconductors is responsible for developing and executing global semiconductor sourcing strategies supporting PSS electronic product portfolio. 

This role will drive supply continuity, allocation management, supplier relationship management, cost reduction, supplier performance, risk mitigation, working capital improvement, and technology roadmap alignment in support of Brady Corp Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Strategic Plan, business growth, and New Product Introductions (NPI).

The individual will develop strong knowledge of semiconductor market dynamics including cost drivers, wafer capacity, global lead times, geopolitical risks, EOL/LTB exposure, supplier roadmaps, and overall supply chain trends to support sourcing decisions and business continuity strategies.

The role requires close collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and Global Supply Chain teams in a fast-paced environment.

The Commodity Manager – Semiconductors will manage strategic relationships with semiconductor OEMs and distributors while leading supplier negotiations, allocation escalations, risk mitigation activities, and long-term sourcing strategies. The role will also support key sourcing initiatives including productivity, value engineering, supplier rationalization, alternate sourcing strategies, inventory optimization, High Growth Region (HGR) moves, and working capital improvements.

Additionally, the role will ensure compliance with Brady Corp business policies, export/import regulations, and global sourcing compliance standards while supporting long-term technology and sourcing decisions across the business.

This position will be located in the Fort Mill, SC area

Qualifications

Commodity & Supplier Management

  • Manage semiconductor commodities of $50 to $100M spend including Memory, Processors, MCUs, Power Management ICs, Discrete Components, and others.
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies aligned with short-, mid-, and long-term business objectives.
  • Manage strategic relationships with semiconductor OEMs and distributors.
  • Understand and lead supplier selection/transitions and identify/develop/grow preferred supply base to support Commodity Strategy.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFI processes, negotiations, contracting, and supplier onboarding activities.

 

Supply Continuity & Risk Management

  • Develop supply assurance strategies for critical semiconductor parts.
  • Lead allocation escalations and critical shortage management with suppliers.
  • Monitor semiconductor market trends, lead times, wafer capacity, and supply chain risks.
  • Track risks related to allocation, EOL/LTB, geopolitical issues, export compliance, and supplier capacity constraints.
  • Proactively raise risk alerts and provide risk mitigation solutions to the site sourcing and operations teams.

 

Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

  • Drive and execute Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Strategic Plans with supporting sourcing strategies.
  • Manage spend analysis, benchmarking, cost analysis, market intelligence, and technology trend analysis.
  • Drive early supplier engagement and supplier roadmap alignment for NPI optimization.

 

Cost Optimization & Working Capital Management

  • Support BOM cost optimization through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, VE/CE ideas, and introduction of cost-effective technologies with strong supply continuity.
  • Improve working capital through payment term extensions, VMI, inventory optimization, and lead time reduction initiatives.

 

Supplier Performance Management

  • Drive supplier accountability for OTTR, PPM, responsiveness, capacity support, and cost competitiveness.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Quality, and Program Management teams.
