The Site HSE Coordinator is supporting all functions of the HSE team from bidding, preparation, drafting procedures and plans as well as active support on the execution of construction projects across Canada.  The incumbent will support our teams in ensuring a safe work environment for all. They will be working as part of a project team of Project Manager, Installation Coordinators, Commercial Manager etc.  The role is a mix of office planning and preparation of documentation for the work and, on site work to ensure full compliance of projects.

 

OFFICE: POINTE-CLAIRE, BOUCHERVILLE, CHAMBLY (Flexible but monthly attendance to Pointe-Claire)

 

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

 

•    Ensures fulfillment of HSE requirements at construction site, following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements and Government regulations;
•    Supports Site team for HSE management and safety instructions implementation for our workers and partners;

 

Below, are listed the principal duties for this role:

 

•    Support the implementation of the HSE Management System across projects and departments. 
•    Collaborate with project teams to prepare HSE reports and statistics. 
•    Assist in hazard identification, risk assessments, and development of control measures. 
•    Conduct and document safety inspections, audits, and compliance checks. 
•    Support safety meetings, HSE communications, and awareness initiatives. 
•    Participate in incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses. 
•    Deliver HSE orientation and site-specific training; coordinate required safety training. 
•    Coordinate emergency preparedness, rescue drills, first aid, confined space, and fire protection programs. 
•    Recommend and verify corrective actions for HSE deficiencies. 
•    Ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, COR, and applicable regulations. 
•    Support internal and external audits and liaise with Workers Compensation as required. 
•    Collaborate with Site HSE Officers and the HSE Operations Manager to maintain and improve HSE performance.

•    Minimum 5 years of experience in an active HSE position  
•    University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent
•    Knowledge of Construction Safety Regulations 
•    Experience in dealing with unionized environment
•    Experience working on construction sites (Hydro power plant – a strong asset);
•    Strong communication skills (spoken & written) at all levels of the organization; 
•    Leadership skills, Team Player following Company common Goals
•    Proven Auditor and Trainer skills;
•    Excellent problem solving skills (root cause analysis expertise), sound judgment, initiative & creativity;
•    Willingness to travel and flexible with work schedule.
