Job Title: Carrier Relations Specialist
Job Description
The Carrier Relations Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for transportation partners in a fast-paced, high-volume phone environment. This role focuses on managing inbound and outbound calls, supporting onboarding and account setup, resolving service issues, and building strong, long-term business relationships. The ideal candidate is polished, highly professional, and comfortable handling frequent phone interactions, including occasional escalations from frustrated customers or partners.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high volume of inbound and outbound calls with transportation partners and customers throughout the day.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Assist with onboarding and account setup activities for new transportation partners and customers.
- Answer questions, resolve issues, and provide ongoing support related to services, accounts, and processes.
- Investigate service concerns and communication issues, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Handle customer and partner escalations with professionalism, working to de-escalate situations and resolve concerns effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and partner records in internal systems and tools.
- Monitor documentation and compliance-related requirements to ensure adherence to internal policies and industry standards.
- Build and maintain long-term business relationships with carriers and partners by delivering consistent, reliable support.
- Collaborate closely with operations and internal teams to ensure service levels and performance expectations are met.
- Use computer systems, Microsoft Office, and other tools to document interactions, track issues, and follow up on open items.
- Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in customer service, call center, account coordination, dispatch, or a closely related role.
- Proven ability to confidently handle high-volume inbound and outbound phone activity.
- Strong phone presence with excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to remain professional, calm, and composed during difficult or escalated customer interactions.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong follow-through and a commitment to resolving issues.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
- Stable work history with evidence of strong tenure and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured, phone-based environment where the majority of the day is spent on calls.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite position in a professional office setting. The role operates on a rotating schedule, working 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM one week and 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM the following week. The environment is highly phone-focused, with the majority of the day spent managing inbound and outbound calls using computer systems and dual monitors.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $47000.00 - $49920.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
