The Sr. Project Manager, Technology is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional technology programs from planning through execution, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business priorities. This role partners closely with Technology, Product, Finance, and cross-functional areas to drive program governance, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and provide clear executive-level visibility into progress, decisions, financials, and outcomes.

 

The position requires strong senior-level project management experience across enterprise technology initiatives, including digital transformation, platform implementation, vendor delivery, financial oversight, and stakeholder alignment.

 

Consistent with a senior IT project leadership role, this position operates with a high degree of independence, manages ambiguity, escalates complex risks and tradeoffs appropriately, and provides delivery discipline across strategic initiatives with operational, financial, customer, associate, or enterprise impact.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program & Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end planning and delivery of complex technology programs, including scope definition, milestones, governance, risks, dependencies, budget tracking, and executive reporting.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Technology, Product, Finance, Operations, Marketing, eCommerce, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple workstreams, dependencies, and critical path activities to ensure timely delivery and proactive issue resolution.
  • Establish project structure, operating cadence, decision forums, RAID management, and escalation paths for high-visibility initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to senior leadership by translating project complexity into clear status, decisions, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Ensure business requirements, technical delivery plans, vendor commitments, financial tracking, and launch readiness activities remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle. Lead readiness planning across testing, training, deployment, cutover, communications, support transition, and post-launch stabilization to ensure project outcomes are adopted and sustained.
  • Use post-project reviews and lessons learned to identify delivery improvements and strengthen future project execution practices.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and capacity requirements, proactively identifying variances, constraints, risks, and mitigation actions to support successful delivery.
  • Lead Agile project execution by facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and cross-functional delivery sessions to drive accountability, remove impediments, and maintain delivery momentum.

Vendor, Stakeholder & Governance Management

  • Manage vendor delivery, SOW milestones, assumptions, dependencies, deliverables, risks, and issue resolution across strategic technology programs.
  • Facilitate executive steering meetings, working sessions, project reviews, and cross-functional decision forums.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders, influencing without authority to drive alignment and accountability.
  • Ensure project documentation, status reporting, governance artifacts, action items, and decisions are maintained in a clear and audit-ready manner.
  • Support portfolio prioritization by providing clear project health, dependency, risk, resource, and delivery performance information to PMO and Technology leadership.

Process Improvement, Tools & Reporting

  • Improve PMO processes, templates, reporting standards, and operating rhythms to strengthen delivery discipline and leadership visibility.
  • Leverage project management, portfolio, collaboration, and reporting tools to create accurate, executive-ready outputs.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality, increase auditability, and create repeatable project delivery practices.
  • Mentor and guide project resources or junior project managers where applicable, modeling strong delivery discipline and stakeholder management.
  • Identify systemic delivery risks, process gaps, and inconsistent governance practices; recommend practical improvements that increase consistency, accountability, and executive visibility.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment, 3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Finance, Project Management, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of progressive project/program management experience, preferably supporting technology, digital, eCommerce, retail, consumer, or omnichannel environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional technology programs with multiple workstreams, executive visibility, vendor involvement, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience supporting or leading, eCommerce platform migrations, digital commerce enhancements, or enterprise platform transformation programs strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project and program governance, including project plans, milestones, RAID management, dependency tracking, executive status reporting, and decision escalation.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, manage ambiguity, drive accountability, and align business, technology, finance, product, and vendor stakeholders around shared priorities.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, variance analysis, business case support, capex/opex tracking, purchase orders, accruals, invoices, and vendor spend management.
  • Ability to translate complex project, financial, and technical information into clear executive-ready communications, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Ability to document complex information clearly and maintain accurate, auditable project records, including decision logs, risk summaries, milestone reports, and governance artifacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, guide, or mentor project resources, project coordinators, or less experienced project managers while influencing cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Proficiency with project management, portfolio, collaboration, and reporting tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365 and Copilot or similar platforms.
  • Experience leading projects within Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments; Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe, Agile, PMP, or related certification preferred.
  • PMP, PMI, Scrum Master, Agile, or related project/program management certification preferred.
