Director of Surgical Services – Perioperative Operations

We are seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to provide 24-hour clinical and operational leadership across Operating Room (OR), Pre-Op, PACU, and Cath/EP Lab services.


This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a proven perioperative professional who is passionate about clinical excellence, patient safety, physician collaboration, team development, and operational performance. Working closely with executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams, you will help drive a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional patient-centered care.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide 24-hour leadership and operational oversight for Surgical and Procedural Services.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing perioperative leadership team and clinical staff.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, physicians, and hospital leadership to optimize surgical operations and physician experience.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, budgeting, and resource utilization.
  • Monitor clinical and operational performance metrics and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Drive patient safety, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, engagement, and continuous learning.
  • Support employee development, succession planning, retention, and professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with executive and physician leaders on strategic initiatives supporting the growth and future direction of Surgical Services.
  • Promote effective communication and strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona or eligibility for Arizona licensure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience in perioperative/surgical services.
  • Experience managing clinical operations, quality initiatives, staffing, productivity, and financial performance.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary surgical teams in an acute-care hospital.
  • Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • CNOR or other relevant specialty certification.
