The Philadelphia office of White and Williams LLP, a multi-practice law firm with a nationally recognized Property Subrogation Department, is seeking a highly skilled attorney to support its litigation practice through legal research, motion practice, appellate advocacy, and strategic legal analysis.

This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys researching and writing complex legal arguments and collaborating with litigation attorneys on significant property damage, product liability, construction defect, and subrogation matters. Unlike a traditional file-handling role, this position is focused primarily on legal writing, analysis, and litigation strategy rather than direct management of a caseload.

The successful candidate will work closely with partners and litigation attorneys throughout the Department in developing and presenting legal arguments arising from fires, explosions, water losses, product failures, equipment failures, construction defects, and other complex property damage claims.

Responsibilities

•    Draft and respond to dispositive motions, motions in limine, discovery motions, and other substantive litigation filings.

•    Prepare briefs addressing complex issues involving liability, causation, damages, evidence, expert testimony, and civil procedure.

•    Develop and brief Daubert, Frye, and other expert admissibility issues.

•    Conduct legal research and analyze emerging legal issues affecting property subrogation, product liability, and recovery litigation.

•    Assist litigation attorneys in developing legal strategy for significant litigation matters throughout the country.

•    Draft appellate briefs and other filings before state and federal appellate courts.

•    Analyze and preserve appellate issues arising during litigation.

•    Collaborate with attorneys throughout the Department to ensure consistent and well-supported legal positions across matters.

•    Assist in developing legal arguments involving product liability, negligence, contractual liability, construction defects, evidentiary issues, and other theories of recovery.

Qualifications

•    Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

•    Demonstrated experience drafting and responding to substantive motions and legal briefs.

•    Strong understanding of civil procedure, evidence, and litigation strategy.

•    Ability to independently analyze complex legal issues and produce high-quality written work.

•    Experience in property damage litigation, insurance litigation, product liability litigation, construction litigation, commercial litigation, appellate practice, or subrogation matters is preferred.

•    Federal court experience is a plus.

What We Offer

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys sophisticated legal analysis and written advocacy to play a critical role in a nationally recognized property subrogation and recovery practice. The position offers the opportunity to work on challenging legal issues involving expert witness admissibility, product liability, causation, evidentiary matters, appellate advocacy, and other issues arising from complex property loss litigation throughout the United States.

The successful candidate will work on matters ranging from routine litigation issues to high-exposure losses involving fires, explosions, product failures, construction defects, and other catastrophic property damage events, while serving as a key resource to partners and litigation attorneys across the Department.
