Branch Manager

Branch Manager – Max Milam Library (Perryville, AR)  The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a dynamic and service-driven Branch Manager to lead the Max Milam Library, located at 609 Aplin Ave., Perryville, AR 72126. 

Position Summary 

The Branch Manager oversees all aspects of daily library operations and provides leadership that fosters excellent customer service, staff development, and strong community engagement. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who is passionate about public library service and connecting with a diverse community. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Manage and oversee daily branch operations 
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff 
• Develop staff schedules and ensure effective coverage 
• Handle cash management and reporting 
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for patrons of all ages 
• Build and maintain strong relationships within the local community 
• Lead projects and initiatives that enhance library services 

Required Qualifications 

• Strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for public service 
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, and project management skills 
• Knowledge of library technologies and electronic information services 
• Commitment to innovation and progressive library practices 
• Ability to engage effectively with a diverse population 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program, progress toward an MLS, or 
  a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience and/or training 
• Previous supervisory or management experience 

Work Schedule 

• Includes evenings and weekends 

Compensation & Benefits 

• Salary starting at $47,881 annually (negotiable based on qualifications)
