Bradley University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Studio Art in the Department of Art and Design, to begin Fall of 2027. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, an active and evolving creative practice, and the ability to provide meaningful service to the department, college, and university. The position supports the university’s mission of integrating teaching excellence, creative inquiry, and student mentorship.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Teach a range of undergraduate courses at the introductory and advanced levels in one or more disciplines (such as drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, new media, installation art, or sculpture)
- Develop and deliver coursework that emphasizes both traditional and contemporary art practices
- The ability to teach 3D foundations classes is desirable.
- Maintain an active program of creative research appropriate for tenure and promotion
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students, including academic advising and portfolio development
- Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and program planning
- Contribute to departmental, college, and university service, including committees and outreach
- Assist with recruitment, retention, and student exhibitions
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability & willingness to teach foundational courses
- MFA in an appropriate studio art discipline
- Evidence of effective undergraduate teaching or clear potential for teaching excellence
- Demonstrated record or strong potential for creative scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track appointment
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered pedagogy
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Working Conditions:
- Hands-on work in active studio environments with potential exposure to dust, chemicals, and power tools.
