JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for on-site leadership of vehicle and trailer mechanics. Perform major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

路 Troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, maintains and installs component parts of vehicles

路 Inspects and diagnoses problems on all assigned transit vehicles and equipment

路 Services and/or repairs all vehicles

路 Coordinates maintenance management scheduling, parts, etc.

路 Performs preventative maintenance procedure inspections and repairs to vehicles as needed

路 Performs upgrades and/or modifications on coach systems and equipment

路 Performs road calls and on-the-road repairs as needed

路 Coaches and mentor work of Mechanics

路 Maintains a clean and well-organized work area

路 Monitors parts inventory

Skills and Knowledge Required:

路 Good written and oral communication skills

路 Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to vehicles

路 Ability to read, interpret and apply documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

路 Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical diagrams

路 Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence

路 Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details

路 Ability to coach others and monitor their work for accuracy and completeness

路 Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional on-the-road repairs

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 or more years progressive experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance of vehicles. Prefer one year experience in a leadership capacity. Prefer Appropriate Automotive Service 聽聽聽聽聽Excellence (ASE) certifications.
