The position is responsible for general clean-up tasks and support all other Production positions. Essential Functions of the Job: Able to work safely after receiving extensive safety training in all OSHA required subjects that relate to a paper mill manufacturing environment. Mill wide clean-up duties both daily and special requests with water hoses, brooms, rakes, shovels, etc. Focus on cleaning most all production related areas. Empty trash cans at the dry end including banding, scrap material and paper. Replace cores, tape, and banding necessary at the winder area using a forklift. Clean up areas in secondary fiber including the Compact 60 area with a water hose, pigpen area, refiner room floors, empty city dumpsters at compact 60 area as well as the pulper area. Clean up dryer section areas front and back side with water hoses. Clean up the cull roll pile and use a hydraulic guillotine and feed this paper onto the conveyor belt working with the beater helper. Use industrial trucks to move the paper. Needs to know how to drive a fork truck, clamp truck, and front-end loader with fine skill so equipment is not damaged. Follows checklists for safety or cleanup. Needs to lift and pull scrap paper from the dryer sections during paper breaks. Support planned outage work that could include a variety of work including installing clothing, changing doctor blades, washing areas, changing worn equipment, cleaning up trash, lock-out equipment properly. Work rotating shift work and possible mandatory overtime when necessary. Complete miscellaneous work in the entire mill as directed by the shift foreman as needs arise. Able to work with all departments well. Essential to be able to work mandated overtime. Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: This job is not a supervisory position QualificationsApplicant Qualifications To be considered for a position within this level, an applicant must have the following qualifications: Education & Experience: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. On the job training [OJT] is provided. Intellectual Abilities: Must be able to read & write simple sentences and speak to others in English. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or oral instructions. Applicants must pass a use of information and mechanical aptitude tests. Operators may be required to learn how to use various Company software packages including, but not limited to Maximo, Outlook, Paycom ESS and any other applicable. The Company will provide training [as needed]. Work Schedule: The Paper Mill operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year. The individual must be able to work 12-hour shifts, 4 days ON and 4 days OFF rotating shift schedule that includes days, nights, weekends. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is required to [A combination of these activities can make up a full 8 - 12 hour shift]: Stand for long periods of time; Walk the distance of a large manufacturing facility; Reach with hands and arms above the shoulders; Have full wrist range of motion to use tools; Bend at the waist and twist upper body; Grip hand and power tools, ladders and equipment; Use hands to turn valves, push and pull items; Climb or balance on stairs, ladders & catwalks; Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Move, lift & carry up to 50 pounds (Occasionally up to 100 pounds) Occasionally required to sit, drive heavy machinery such as a bobcat, forklift and clamp truck Vision abilities required are close vision and depth perception Able to verbally communicate and hearing abilities Work Environment: The duties of the job are performed either in the Paper Mill at the site of a piece of equipment, yard, or receiving/shipping. The Paper Mill is a large facility, and the employees can work at various locations within the Mill during a shift. Equipment in the Paper Mill can be very large. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (80+dB). Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Occasionally exposed to loud, moving mechanical equipment; high precarious places; vapors or corrosive chemicals; hot and cold; blood borne pathogens; and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally the employee is exposed to the Mill work environment which can be hot and the noise level is loud [Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment [PPE] such as hard hat, steel toed boots, gloves, safety glasses and hearing protect   Benefits: We offer excellent benefits including a competitive salary.
