Avant Energy is looking for an experienced Plant Operations and Maintenance technician to safely and reliably operate, monitor and support the general maintenance of our biogas facility in LeSueur, MN.Ā This role is responsible for meeting the day-to-day operating requirements of the plant, maintaining equipment and resolving technical issues as they arise. This position will spend the majority of time on operations with an emphasis on maintenance and operation PMs.
Responsibilities
- Plant Operations including but not limited to; perform start-up, operation, monitoring, shutdown, lockout of plant auxiliary equipment, chemistry testing, and reporting.
- Perform maintenance work and preventative tasks as needed
- Assist with repairs, installs, and general upkeep of plant equipment
- Communicate the condition of plant systems, equipment, and other pertinent information to team members and management.
- Help keep the facility clean, safe, and organized
- Operate plant equipment, including forklifts and personnel lifts.
- Ensure adequate supplies are available to support plant operations
- Perform chemical analysis on plant systems, including digester liquids, feedstock liquids, lagoon liquids, and stormwater.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as required by plant management, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Plant Operations
- Run and monitor plant systems safely and efficiently
- Check equipment, take readings, and make adjustments as needed
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot operational issues
- Maintain clear and accurate logs of plant activity
- Work with the team to address performance or process concerns
- Make independent decisions on non-routine or escalated technical issues and prioritize and execute assigned responsibilities with limited to no supervision

Qualifications
- Plan operator or maintenance experience of 4 years or more.
- Experience in manufacturing and/or industrial environment
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams and plant drawings.
- Can lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Ability to climb ladder cages to access tanks
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to support general maintenance
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
- Safety-minded with good attention to detail
- Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or associateās degree or certification in electrical, welding, chemistry, plumbing, automation, and trades, military service experience in related field or equivalent work experience.
- SCADA or DCS system experience
- Experience with computer-based CMMS Maintenance Management System
- Boiler license
Required Development
- Acquiring a Special Engineer Boiler License within 12 months of employment
- Qualify as a control room operator
- Within 1 year of obtaining Special Boilers License expected to obtain Minnesotaās 2-C Boilers License
