Hill International is seeking a Sr FDOT Inspector in Orlando, Florida

The Sr FDOT  Inspector provides construction oversight, quality assurance, and compliance monitoring for FDOT roadway, highway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for ensuring that construction activities are performed in accordance with FDOT standards, contract documents, approved plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality management procedures.


The role serves as an experienced field representative supporting project delivery through inspections, documentation reviews, coordination with contractors, and verification of construction quality. Depending on project needs, this position may be staffed on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, maintenance of traffic (MOT), and related transportation construction activities.
  • Verify contractor compliance with FDOT specifications, approved plans, permits, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor construction operations to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of inspection reports, test results, and project records.
  • Coordinate with FDOT representatives, contractors, utility agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Review contractor work for compliance with approved construction methods and sequencing.
  • Verify quantities, materials certifications, and project documentation.
  • Monitor and document project progress, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Review and validate field reports, daily inspection reports, and testing documentation.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical recommendations.
  • Assist with project closeout activities and final acceptance documentation.
  • Identify potential risks, non-conformance issues, and construction deficiencies.
  • Support resolution of field conflicts and construction challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and permit requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; 
  • Minimum 10+ years of roadway, highway, bridge, or transportation construction inspection experience.
  • FDOT Advanced MOT Certification.
  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced Construction Inspection qualifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of FDOT Standard Specifications, Design Standards, and CEI procedures.
  • Experience on FDOT highway, roadway, bridge, or interchange projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, quality control, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise documentation and reports.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FDOT Structures Inspection experience.
  • Quality Assurance Review experience on major transportation programs.
  • Experience with Design-Build and alternative delivery projects.
  • Experience managing inspection teams and coordinating multiple construction activities.
