Position: Registered Nurse (RN)
Division: Western New York PediatricsÂ
Status: Non-Exempt, HourlyÂ
Reports to: Nursing Management (Main Pediatrics: Office Manager)
JOB SUMMARY: The RN will focus on providing high quality care to pediatric, adolescent, andÂ
young adult patients in an office setting. RN’s play an important role in helping our patients
pursue a healthy future, by providing clinical care and support to the providers, patients, andÂ

WNY policy and procedure and as directed by management and/or providers.Â
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrate the primary goal of customer satisfaction through positive interactions withÂ
patients, parents, providers, colleagues, and other members of the patient care team in aÂ
respectful, courteous, confidential, and caring manner.Â
2. Provide and assist with direct patient care including exam/procedure prep, screenings,Â
initial assessments (for sick and well visits), patient exams, and clinical procedures.Â
3. Efficiently carries out administration and documentation of medications, immunizationsÂ
and obtaining specimens as ordered by the providers.
4. Assist providers with clinical procedures (such as suturing, and obtaining specimen for
culture), and conduct catheterizations.
5. Administer nebulizer treatment. Obtain respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulmonary functions,Â
and peak flow meter, when applicable.Â
6. Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.
7. Assist with stocking supplies and cleaning/preparing rooms and equipment.
8. Schedule visits which are timely, appropriate, and sensitive to patient needs as clinicallyÂ
indicated and/or as directed by supervisors of the care team.
9. Gather patient information by telephone (medical history, current symptoms, commonÂ
newborn/childhood questions); provide recommendations. Prepare and review patientÂ
records to meet specifications for triage messages, documentation, and organization.Â
10. Communicate with parents/patients regarding questions arising from visit, follow-upÂ
instructions or scheduling of additional testing as directed by supervisors of the careÂ
team.
11. Provide health education information and health teaching to parents/patients as directedÂ
by the provider.
12. Accurately communicate to pharmacies any necessary information needed per provider.Â
This may include verbal prescription requests or prior authorizations.Â
13. Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement programs and activities within theÂ
practice setting.
14. Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings for continuousÂ
quality improvements.Â
15. Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.
16. Coordinate care with disease management as directed by Provider.Â
17. Follow policy/procedure to perform, record and report laboratory tests whileÂ
maintaining universal precautions and infection control precautions.
18. Protect the privacy and security of confidential and sensitive patient information.
19. Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.Â
20. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the nurse manager, or as directed by a provider.

Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be ableÂ
to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements listed below are representative ofÂ
the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Graduate of an approved program for Registered Professional Nurse.
? Current NYS Licensure and registration required.
• Current CPR Certification.
• One year experience preferred in: pediatric, clinical, or office nursing.Â
? Triage experience preferred.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Proficiency with medical record technology.
? MEDENT experience/knowledge preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMAND/WORK ENVIRONMENTÂ
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to walk, stand and sit for extended periods.Â
Includes but is not limited to bending, squatting, reaching, and carrying. The employeeÂ
must be able to lift, pull and bend or assist to physically restrain a combative patient.
• Employee is required to talk and hear through direct patient contact and telephoneÂ
conversation. Requires close vision work with computer and keyboard entry.
• Well lit, secure, controlled temperature environment with noise level quiet toÂ
moderate.
• Tasks may involve exposure risk to blood and body fluids. Must observe guidelines toÂ
guard against disease, accidental needle sticks and exposure to instrument sterilizingÂ
chemicals.
