A Brief Overview
Processes inbound referrals from internal and external providers. Obtains and verifies required information for registration, scheduling, and insurance coordination. Provides timely, patient-centered customer service through effective communication, including telephone triage, email, and written correspondence.

Essential Functions

  • Referral Intake & Processing
    • Supports Referral Transcription for SPC specialties accurately and efficiently.
    • Coordinates inbound referrals from internal and external providers with a strong focus on accurate referral intake and documentation.
    • Ensures accurate collection and verification of information for patient registration, scheduling, and insurance needs.
    • Delivers timely, patient-centered support through effective communication via phone, email, and written correspondence.
    • Manages multiple and/or complex referrals to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Supports daily operations of the Access department
    • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives related to referral activities
    • Provides recommendations for referral policies and procedures
    • Partners with leadership to help define and maintain referral workflow protocols
    • Initiates service recovery processes by notifying appropriate leadership to address customer concerns
  • Oversees referral and order workflow processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to productivity standards
    • Ensures physician orders are accurately linked within the system
    • Reviews OnBase queues daily to maintain timeliness and accuracy of referral information
    • Identifies and corrects errors through work queues, leadership feedback, or QA processes
    • Meets established productivity and performance standards
    • Performs other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required or

Experience Qualifications

  • 1 year Minimum of one year experience in Patient Scheduling or Healthcare Registration Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Skill in typing and usage of Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
