About the AI Internship As an AI Intern at Flywheel Energy, you will help us put artificial intelligence to work across the company—from operations and land to accounting and finance. You will identify high-value use cases, prototype solutions using large language models and machine learning, and partner directly with the teams who will use what you build. You will work alongside high-performing teams, gaining hands-on experience and real accountability from day one. What You'll Do Identify, scope, and prototype AI use cases across departments, including document processing, workflow automation, and decision support Build and evaluate solutions using large language models, including skill development, agentic workflows, and MCP server integrations with company data and tools Develop and test machine learning models on operational and financial data, such as production forecasting and predictive maintenance Partner with business users to embed AI into daily workflows, measure adoption and impact, and iterate quickly Help establish responsible AI practices, including cost management, knowledge base curation, and data security considerations Train and support teammates as new AI tools roll out across the company What You'll Gain Real project ownership and accountability from day one Immersion in a high-performance, purpose-driven culture Access to experienced mentors who value curiosity and continuous improvement Opportunities to contribute ideas, challenge the status quo, and drive real impact A collaborative environment where your voice matters and your work is visible QualificationsWho Should Apply This internship is ideal for students who: Are currently pursuing degrees in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, or other applicable majors and have graduation dates of December 2027 or later Bring a growth mindset and thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments Embrace challenge, accountability, and honest feedback Want to grow alongside exceptional teammates and contribute to something bigger than themselves Are proficient in Python and have hands-on experience with LLMs, machine learning frameworks, or AI developer tools (personal or class projects count) Communicate clearly with non-technical audiences and enjoy turning ambiguous business problems into working solutions
