The Off Shift Manufacturing Supervisor supervises and coordinates the daily work of production, maintenance, and quality control personnel during off-shift hours. This role serves as a key communication connection between off-shift teams and first-shift leadership, supports operational troubleshooting, reinforces safe and compliant work practices, and encourages employee involvement in improving Shepherd processes.
Key Responsibilities
•   Communicate production plans, priorities, and expectations to the off-shift team and ensure daily work is aligned with plant needs.
•   Coordinate daily off-shift work for production, maintenance, and quality control personnel.
•   Communicate effectively with first-shift production, maintenance, and quality control management regarding issues, opportunities, and follow-up needs identified on the off shift.
•   Provide safety, Responsible Care, and performance leadership through group training, individual coaching, and timely feedback.
•   Engage off-shift team members in continuous improvement by listening to ideas and helping implement practical process improvements.
•   Support housekeeping and 5S initiatives across the plant.
•   Monitor pollution control equipment and respond to equipment failures, process issues, and alarms to help prevent chemical releases.
•   Apply Shepherd policies and practices consistently across teams and shifts in a manner aligned with Shepherd’s core purpose and core values.
Additional Responsibilities
•   Provide technical troubleshooting and process improvement support as needed.
•   Create, update, and reinforce standard operating procedures.
•   Capture relevant troubleshooting information for process upsets and operational deviations.
•   Monitor key process metrics, cycle time data, and in-process analytical results to support evaluation and improvement efforts.
•   Review and approve employee timesheets.
•   Serve as Emergency Response Incident Commander for the Norwood site when assigned or required.
Required Qualifications
•   Technical ability to understand Shepherd customers, products, specifications, manufacturing processes, and quality expectations.
•   Experience with chemical process safety, environmental compliance, and Responsible Care requirements.
•   Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
•   Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
•   Ability to supervise, coach, and provide direction to production, maintenance, and quality control personnel in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
•   Post-secondary technical degree or equivalent experience.
•   SAP proficiency.
•   Process improvement and/or Lean manufacturing experience.
•   Experience supporting standardized work, 5S, troubleshooting documentation, or manufacturing excellence initiatives.
