Job Title: Senior AccountantJob Description

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting month-end and year-end close activities, preparing accurate financial reporting, and providing analytical insights that guide business decisions. This position partners closely with Operations, Credit, and Servicing teams to monitor key metrics, costs, and profitability, while contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. The role also supports portfolio reporting, account reconciliations, reserve-related analysis, and finance transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on process improvement, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial and operational performance, providing clear insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational business decisions.
  • Partner with Operations, Credit, and Servicing teams to monitor key metrics, costs, and profitability, and to ensure alignment between financial results and business performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and perform detailed variance analysis to explain differences between actual and planned results.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, and ad hoc financial analyses that present complex financial information in a clear and actionable format.
  • Support portfolio reporting activities, including portfolio accounting, account reconciliations, and reserve-related analysis.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including fixed asset accounting, accruals, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy, streamline close activities, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with audits and the maintenance of strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives, including process automation and systems optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Senior leadership to support operational finance, FP&A, and business analytics functions.
  • Utilize ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and advanced Excel capabilities to support data analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including significant experience managing and supporting the close process.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting, portfolio accounting, fixed asset accounting, accruals, and bank reconciliations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements related to accounting and financial reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CPA certification or CPA-track status preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, equipment finance, banking, leasing, or lending environments.
  • Experience supporting operational finance, FP&A, or business analytics functions.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence and reporting platforms.
  • Experience with process automation and systems optimization initiatives.
  • Great Plains ERP experience is a plus.
  • Experience with tools such as Aspire or similar financial systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Senior finance leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Work Environment

This is a fully in-office role based at the corporate headquarters in Norwalk, with a standard 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule. The position is part of a newly created role designed to serve as the right hand to the Controller and offers a clear opportunity to grow into an Accounting Manager role over time. The accounting team sits together in a modern, brand-new office space within the Merritt 7 buildings, fostering collaboration and easy communication among team members. The organization has approximately 121 employees in total, with around 80 working onsite in the Norwalk office. The campus-style environment includes convenient amenities such as a full cafeteria downstairs, and access to additional facilities including another cafeteria, a Starbucks, and a hair salon in a nearby building. The role involves working closely with Senior finance leadership in a professional, team-oriented setting that emphasizes growth, transformation, and continuous improvement in accounting and finance processes.

This is a Permanent position based out of Norwalk, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
