Job Summary

The Registration Technician is a member of the Behavioral Health Team and is responsible for the collection, verification, and entry for all un'ina (patient) demographic and insurance information. The accurate and timely performance of job duties of the Registration Technician directly impacts the revenue received by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe.

Essential Functions

  • Greets all un'ina, co-workers with a smile- provides exceptional customer service with each interaction
  • Responsible for un'ina registration, ensuring accurate capture and data entry of all un'ina updated demographic and insurance information
  • Ensures capture of all charges for services provided at Behavioral Health
  • Operates credit card machine and cash drawer
  • Scans ID, CIB, and insurance cards into electronic registration package
  • Hands out referral forms, intake packets, educational materials, as needed
  • Verification of insurance
  • Monitors waiting room behaviors; notify Safety & Security in the event of disruptive un'ina
  • Make reminder phone calls for appointments
  • Sort mail and ensure delivery to appropriate personnel and provide assistance to Behavioral Health Department as needed

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or a General Education Degree (GED)

Experience

  • One year (1) of experience in scheduling or registration functions

Preferred

  • Insurance verification and charge collections experience
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire

Special Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
