Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the Operations and Support Services Department with equipment and inventories for the employees, vehicles, base and satellite locations of Cataldo Ambulance Service. The Materials Assistant functions as a member of the Operations Support Services Team and is responsible for ensuring that field crews, vehicles and base locations are supplied with the medical equipment and medical support infrastructure necessary for safe and efficient operations on a day-to-day basis. Ensuring operational adherence to all safety and compliance standards at all times. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receives, Logs and prepares equipment requisitions for issue.
  • Delivers daily equipment requisitions to company and municipal locations.
  • Assisting with the unloading, sorting and storage of incoming materials.
  • Prepares equipment for initial issue, ensuring logging, tagging and tracking is in place, and the equipment is operationally ready for use.
  • Performs occasional minor repairs and/or maintenance at satellite locations.
  • Restocking of the supply room, supply closets, and equipment staging areas.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of equipment areas and storage spaces.
  • Acquisition of materials not obtained through normal delivery channels
  • Delivery of support items to base and satellite locations.
  • Stocking and equipping vehicles for active service
  • Documents and reports material deficiencies and needs. 
  • Ensures timely and accurate vehicle equipment swaps
  • Clerical and office responsibilities as assigned
  • Ability to work safely and independently, pay attention to detail, maintain and develop knowledgeable skills and adhere to safety and material and equipment operating procedures at all times.
  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
  • Completes other duties as requested and assigned

 Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical training in a related field a plus

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Current valid driver’s license 

Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in material and equipment inventory or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the use and application of computerized inventory control systems is preferred. 
  • Ability to safely operate delivery and material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of equipment, supplies, materials and related requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicable UDS drug screening 
  • Satisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually.
  • Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually.

 Physical Requirements:

Physical Demands & Work Conditions: This position requires the safe operation of Cataldo Ambulance Service vehicles in accordance with MA state law and company policies and procedures. Requires regular physical activity, including walking, bending, stooping, carrying, and capable of lifting up to 65 lbs. takes place in both indoor and outdoor environments, requires travel and mobility and may include exposure to weather.
