Job Title: CustodianÂ
Reports To: Supervisor of Custodial Services and Campus Appearance
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, hourly
Job Type:Â Full-time (40 hrs./week).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweep, dust, mop, wash, scrub, and vacuum hallways, offices, stairs, classrooms, labs, dormitory rooms, lounges, bathrooms, locker rooms, windows, etc. as directed, to maintain cleanliness.
- Perform specialty cleaning functions as needed and directed by supervision.
- Set up tables, chairs, furniture, etc., for College functions and breakdown and put away same.
- Maintain all building entrances for cleanliness and neatness to include regularly removing litter and cigarette receptacles. Empty trash receptacles and discard trash.
- Clean snow and debris from sidewalks.
- Perform all work in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain all supplies and equipment in safe operating condition.
- Notify supervisor of conditions that require special attention or experience to resolve.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
The physical demands of this job require the employee to regularly: stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, use arms and hands to reach and use cleaning supplies and equipment. The employee is occasionally required to climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.Â
The work environment for this position may find the employee exposed to wet and /or humid conditions as well as outside weather conditions. The employee should also be aware of safety hazards that arise and seek resolution or appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- No previous experience in custodial operations is required, but it is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand simple written instructions, memos, safe operating instructions/procedures, etc.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Satisfactorily perform all tasks necessary so campus buildings and surrounding walkways are clean, safe and orderly.
