Reports To: A/V Technical Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Per Diem AV Technician to execute technical setups and operations for high-profile events. Working alongside our Technical Manager, Assistant Technical Manager, clients, and Event Sales Team, you will ensure seamless technical execution for major industry film and television premieres, corporate audio/visual events, and press junkets.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute planned workflows for film/TV premieres, corporate events, and press junkets at assigned properties, with flexibility to assist across locations as needed.
- Deliver, set up, and test required AV equipment and digital assets (including DCPs, KDMs, video files, and client presentations) prior to scheduled events.
- Communicate directly with clients and the Event Sales Team (via email and in person) to review technical specifications, conduct tech checks, and meet event expectations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues using a logical, systematic approach.
- Assist the Technical Manager with equipment maintenance, project execution, and workflow optimization.
- Consistently deliver exceptional levels of service on time and up to Firmdale standards while building positive internal and client relationships.
What You Bring
- Degree or Certificate in Audio Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of event technology experience in a hospitality environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of film and television post-production workflows, including projection and technical direction of live video and AV screenings.
- Strong proficiency in required AV software, programming languages, and hardware setup.
- Exceptional communication skills, analytical thinking, and customer orientation.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs/elevated structures, and sitting at a computer workstation.
- Ability to read, enter, and retrieve digital and physical records.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel independently between NYC properties as needed.
