Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned hallways, floors, entrances, cafeterias, stairwell areas, and other designated locations.
  • Conduct scheduled rounds and check-ins throughout assigned areas.
  • Check in with teachers and school staff regarding safety concerns or students who may need additional support.
  • Support safe and orderly student transitions between classes, lunch periods, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Assist with de-escalating students when appropriate and authorized by DOE/school administration.
  • Support teachers and administrators when a student is disruptive while following school-approved procedures.
  • Help students calm down, regroup, and return to the appropriate learning environment when directed by school staff.
  • Observe and immediately report safety concerns, conflicts, suspicious activity, or other incidents to the appropriate school administrator and program supervisor.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage respectful behavior, conflict resolution, and accountability.
  • Complete required incident reports, shift reports, attendance records, or other program documentation.
  • Maintain communication with the Program Director/Supervisor and designated school administration.
  • Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
