Job Summary:
The First Cook will facilitate daily meal preparation, food service, coordinate general kitchen maintenance; and provide task management for kitchen aides.

Responsibilities:
- Prepares and cooks appealing, nutritious and tasty meals daily, according to a pre-planned menu. Â
- Supervises food service and tray line service.
- Provides task management for Kitchen Aide duties.
- Provides oversight for volunteers assigned to meal service duties.
- Delegate and prepare weekly cleaning and meal prep schedules for the kitchen aides.
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with the NYS Department of Health and NYC Aging.
- Collaborate with Program Director/Coordinator on special events which require special meal planning.
- Responsible for coordinating receipt and storage of food orders and monitoring of kitchen deliveries.
- Work cooperatively with the assigned food service manager to complete daily food used records.
- Contribute toward the development of older adult center menu planning.
- Provide staff support/coverage at sister sites as needed.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

Qualifications:
Required
- Associates degree and at least two years of experience as cook in a commercial setting (hospital, school, nursing home, etc.).
- Experience or interest in serving/ working with older adults in a community setting.
- NYS DOHMH Food Protection Certification.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Preferred
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of the NYC food standards requirements as well as NYS DOHMH food safety guidelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- AED/CPR certified.
 Schedule: Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm and ability to work Sunday 8am - 4pm when Food Service Manager is absent.
