Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Air Gateways Manager is responsible for the global movement of air freight in accordance with UPS standards and in compliance with governmental regulations. They're responsible for owning and driving various gateway initiatives and supporting gateway operations. They oversee daily Air Gateways operations ensuring superior service, consistent performance, and innovative logistic solutions.

The Air Gateways Manager monitors the departmental budget and actively seeks cost-efficient solutions to reduce operating expenses. They are responsible for assuring maximum efficiency and utilization of the carrier base to reduce air transportation costs and improve margins for UPS. This position manages supervisors, specialists, and administrative assistants and ensures compliance, efficiency, and profitability by coordinating with airlines, ground handlers, and internal teams.

The Air Gateway Manager plays a critical role in maintaining service reliability, cost control, and regulatory compliance while driving operational excellence, competitiveness in the market, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)

  • Experience in air freight forwarding or airline cargo operations and experience in a supervisory/managerial role.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Strong understanding of air freight market trends and industry dynamics.

  • Analytical, data-driven decision-making skills.

  • Commercial mindset with cost and revenue alignment awareness.

  • Strong knowledge of IATA, TSA, CBP, and international air cargo regulations.

  • Proven track record in vendor management and cost control.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with freight forwarding systems (e.g., CargoWise, E2K, or similar).

  • Dangerous Goods certification (preferred).

Additional Criteria:

  • Job Grade: 30E  

  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to self-relocate – Required.  

  • Shift: Monday – Friday 8 am to 5 pm. May require flexibility depending on business needs.

Pay Range:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $110.940,00/year to $180.300,00/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
