Kaman Measuring & Memory is seeking a Senior Quality Technician to support inspection and quality activities across the production floor. This role performs First Article Inspections (FAI), mechanical inspections, internal router reviews, supplier part verification, and preparation of Certificates of Conformance (CoCs). The Senior Quality Technician also participates in NCR/MRB activities and conducts AS9100 internal audits.

This position requires strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to train inspectors and operators on proper inspection methods and requirements. The technician works closely with Engineering to evaluate inspection needs, recommend new equipment, and set up or program existing measurement tools.

Additional responsibilities include reviewing customer requirement documents, identifying applicable quality flow-down requirements, maintaining the gage calibration system, monitoring key process parameters, and supporting problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts to prevent nonconformances and ensure consistent product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical inspections, First Article Inspections (FAI), and in-process, receiving, and final inspections.
  • Review routers, work orders, drawings, and specifications for completeness and compliance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Verify supplier parts, certifications, expiration dates, and testing documentation for conformance.
  • Prepare Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) for customer shipments.
  • Train inspectors and operators on the proper interpretation and application of GD&T.
  • Partner with Engineering to evaluate inspection needs, recommend new equipment, and set up or program existing measurement tools.
  • Review customer requirement documents to identify applicable quality flow-down requirements and update internal documentation accordingly.
  • Conduct AS9100 internal audits and support resulting corrective actions.
  • Participate in NCR and MRB activities, including data collection, inspection, and technical support.
  • Monitor key process parameters and maintain the gage calibration system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to problem-solving and nonconformance prevention activities.
  • Maintain a strong quality presence on the production floor and promote consistent adherence to quality requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate quality records and a clean, safe work environment.
  • Provide clear and effective quality support and communication to internal teams and customers.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or quality function.
  • Experience within an electro-mechanical assembly or job shop manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge and practical application of GD&T.
  • Experience performing mechanical inspections and First Article Inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, routers, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality requirements and internal auditing practices.
  • Experience supporting NCR and MRB processes.
  • Familiarity with gage calibration systems and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to train and provide technical guidance to inspectors and production operators.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and customers.
