Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: New Bedford MA - New Bedford, MA 02740Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $20.00 - $23.19 HourlyJob Category: Health CareMonday - Friday - 7:30am - 5:00pm.  Must have availability for Rotating Saturdays - 7:00am - 4:30pm.  Bilingual Required: Spanish and or Portuguese Preferred. The Patient Services Ambassador (PSA) serves as an advocate and customer service representative for our patients and visitors.  The PSA will assist all departments with wheelchair transports, patient vehicle transportation (via Lyft or cab), navigating patients through the facility, and translating non-medical information for employees and patients.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions: Provide patients and visitors with a positive first impression of NBCH by extending a cordial welcome, answering questions, and assisting with other requests. Frequently check with patients in department waiting rooms to answer questions, provide estimated wait times, and help them resolve any questions they may have.  Coordinate patient transports with Public Safety Officers via radio and assist with wheelchair transports as needed. Ensure that the waiting area is clean and free from debris or trash left by patients or visitors.  Wipes down chairs, counters and other surfaces several times during each shift. Listen to patient concerns and complaints; file all feedback reports to the Patient Care Advocate.  Share the Patient Advocate’s contact information with patient when needed. Answer questions and refer patients/visitors to the appropriate resources. Communicate with Public Safety staff to help identify any potential security risks. Assist with housekeeping and general operations as needed. Qualifications Required Knowledge & Skills Customer service skills, including de-escalation techniques Excellent communication skills People-oriented and personable Strong problem solving skills  Must be able to handle difficult situations in a safe and professional manner Verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish and/or Portuguese is required   Required Education & Other Credentials Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent is required Experience: One year of experience as a customer service representative or similar job serving customers is preferred.  Health care industry experience is also a plus. Software/Hardware: Must possess experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
