Description
About the role
We're building out a stronger warehouse operation and adding an Operations Manager layer to lead it. This person owns a complete phase of the operation end to end — the receipt of goods, the accuracy and management of inventory while it's in their care, and the controlled movement of goods through their phase to the point of hand-off. You'll lead through an Area Manager tier rather than doing the work yourself, and you'll be accountable for the integrity of everything that happens in your phase: accurate inventory, real-time transactions, clean hand-offs, and a team held to standard. This is a builder's role for someone ready to step up and run a phase like an owner.
What you'll own
- Lead the team. Lead your Area Manager(s) and, through them, coordinators and warehouse associates / material handlers. Delegate daily execution so you operate in oversight and coaching, not in the line work. Run a documented 1:1 and feedback cadence.
- Inventory accuracy. Own the accuracy and condition of inventory in your phase; ensure real-time transactions; run the cycle-count program to the Inventory Control standard and act on discrepancies.
- Movement & integrity. Own the controlled movement of goods through your phase, executed by embedded material handlers, with full traceability — nothing lost or unaccounted for between steps.
- Hand-off control. Own chain-of-custody at your phase boundaries; confirm goods in and confirm goods out. Where a hand-off in is non-compliant, require the sender to correct it and escalate blockers.
- Flow & planning. Plan labor and equipment against demand and the schedule; identify and remove bottlenecks; turn one-off fixes into standard work.
- Safety, standards & reporting. Maintain a safe operation; uphold the Culture Book fairly and consistently; deliver an on-time weekly operations update and escalate risks early.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Warehouse operations best practices and a track record of running a floor to standard
- WMS proficiency — Finale and NetSuite a strong plus; ShipStation experience
- Demonstrated accountability leadership — comfortable delivering behavioral and performance corrective actions, and participating in hiring and termination decisions
- Lean methodology — practical application (5S, standard work, waste reduction, root-cause problem solving)
- Project management — can plan, sequence, and drive a workstream to completion
- Time study and resource planning — can measure work, set realistic staffing/throughput expectations, and plan labor to demand
- Crisis management — stays calm and decisive under peak volume, staffing gaps, and disruption
- Strong cross-functional coordination; able to hold a hand-off boundary firmly and professionally
- Material handling equipment familiarity and a safety-first orientation
What success looks like
- Inventory in your phase is accurate and reliable
- Goods move with real-time transactions and full traceability; nothing is lost between steps
- Hand-offs in and out of your phase are clean and confirmed
- Your team runs the daily work through the Area Manager tier — you lead rather than do
Who should apply
Current team members ready to move from doing the work to leading it. If you've been running a function informally, holding people to standard, and thinking a level above your title, this is the step up we're posting for.
