JOB DESCRIPTION

The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s front desk operations during the overnight shift while ensuring accuracy of financial records and guest account reconciliations. This role combines guest service with accounting responsibilities, requiring attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Responds in a professional and courteous manner to arriving, departing and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services. Responsible for the total desk operation. Serves as the Manager on Duty during the hours of 11pm and 7am, keeping the Director of Rooms and the Front Desk Manager informed of any guest complaints or situations that need immediate attention.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform nightly balancing of guest accounts and hotel revenue transactions.
  • Reconcile and post daily room charges, taxes, and other transactions.
  • Generate and distribute daily financial and operational reports for hotel management.
  • Greet, check-in, and check-out guests as needed during the overnight shift.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in person or over the phone.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests and hotel property during the night.
  • Monitor reservations, process payments, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare the front desk and lobby area for morning staff.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Follow hotel policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Have a true understanding of all hotel operations including hours, pricing, Marriott Bonvoy, and local information in order to speak to our guests with the utmost knowledge.


REQUIREMENTS 

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • One year hotel front desk experience and/or accounting background required.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly with guests and fellow employees.
  • Must be able to calculate amounts and apply basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 
  • Must be able to analyze routine data to make appropriate judgements regarding the process of guest check in/check out of the hotel.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

 


 

HOURS

Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year- any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime. Also, depending on business demands, hours may be reduced at any time.
