Job Summary:
The surgical technician is responsible for the preparation of the operating room and instruments for assigned surgical cases.

Education:

Required: Clinical knowledge of sterile techniques and aseptics; ability to actively use this knowledge before and during the surgical procedure

Preferred: One-two years scrubbing experience preferred

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required: BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward
Must obtain CST after qualifications have been met.

Preferred: CST Preferred

Department Position Summary:
Under direct and frequent supervision, the surgical technician is responsible with the preparation of the operating room and instruments for assigned surgical cases. Responsible for performing own job duties in the Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age patients. He/she anticipates the needs of the doctor before and during the procedure, assists in clean-up of the room and instruments after the procedure, takes surgery call.
