ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and difficulties
- Make repairs or adjustments
- Perform a variety of trade functions such as testing, installation, replacement or modification of components
- Work with systems or equipment which utilize mechanical energy in the facilities
- Repair and maintain manufacturing machinery and equipment in the facility
- Repair machine parts using various welding techniques
- Disassemble and repair or replace defective parts, reassemble and check operation using tools such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, levels, plumb bobs, straight edge, machine shop equipment and other measuring instruments
- Other maintenance duties as assigned and required
- Observe all safety precautions especially lock, tag and try
- Oversee the work of lower level mechanics or contractors
- Ability to work under pressure
- Responsible for observing all plant standard operating procedures and safety policies
- Responsible for teamwork communication with production operators and supervisors
- Must wear appropriate PPE at all times
- Understand plant environmental and safety policies
- Participate in training programs to enhance environmental and safety performance
- Perform assigned tasks as specified in the environmental procedures and work instructions
- Understand the significant environmental impacts of my job activities and the consequences of departing from specified work instructions
- Know where EHS documents are located
- Must have initiative and exhibit good judgment
- Must perform with safe work practices at all times                  Â

PROBLEM-SOLVING. Â
- Must be able to understand, troubleshoot, and repair rotating equipment such as pumps, speed reducer, macerators, refiners, packing and mechanical seals
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks quickly
- Must be able to determine minute differences quickly
- Must be able to concentrate and think clearly in a distracting environment
- Must be able to effectively diagnose and solve problems
KNOWLEDGEÂ REQUIRED
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
- Have basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic equipment (repairing hydraulic leaks, refilling hydraulic equipment with oil)
- Have basic knowledge of electricity to perform tasks such as changing motors
- Have basic knowledge of boiler operations
- Participation in safety committees or activities
- Multi-tasking skills are extremely important
- Production and work tasks move at a very fast pace
