Milacron is looking for a 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) CNC Operator to join our team in Mt. Orab, Ohio. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up and operating T-40 grinding machines to grind metal parts to specification, ensuring product quality, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
Work You'll Do:
- Set up and operate T-40 grinding machines to grind metal components to required specifications.
- Grind metal objects such as castings, billets, and machine parts to achieve smooth or rough finishes as required.
- Remove excess metal, scratches, and burrs by feeding parts against rotating grinding wheels.
- Verify correct product identification using job travelers and production documentation.
- Examine and measure workpieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to engineering specifications and company standards.
- Select and mount abrasive wheels of various grit sizes to achieve specified surface finishes.
- Interpret complex drawings, sectional views, process sheets, and company standards.
- Monitor machine performance and perform preventive maintenance to support continuous production.
- Maintain proper fluid levels and operating conditions on assigned equipment.
- Utilize overhead cranes to safely lift, position, and transport materials and parts.
- Partner with Quality and Operations teams to address manufacturing issues and product defects.
- Support plant goals related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork, and attendance.
- Recommend process and product improvements and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Technical Program Certificate or 1+ years of related manufacturing, machining, or grinding experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience operating grinding equipment, machinery, and products required.
- Ability to inspect commercial and manufactured parts for compliance with engineering specifications and company standards.
- Experience using inspection methodologies and accurately recording inspection results.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sectional views.
- Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to safely operate power tools and various manufacturing equipment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production needs.
- Strong teamwork and professional communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical activities including standing, walking, reaching, and occasional crouching.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and comply with all company safety standards.
