We are looking for a talented Machining Technician to join our 2nd Shift team specializing in Manufacturing at our Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems Business Unit facility in Morristown, TN.

The Machining Technician operates machines and production equipment in accordance with quality and productivity requirements safely in a manufacturing environment with limited guidance.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Champion workplace safety by following HSE standards, identifying and reporting hazards, using appropriate PPE, and helping create an injury-free work environment.
  • Protect quality and reduce waste by following standard work, SPC requirements, poka-yoke methods, and visual standards to ensure products consistently meet specifications.
  • Deliver products that meet customer expectations by operating manual and automated equipment with precision to achieve required product characteristics, dimensions, and performance standards.
  • Drive production performance by meeting cycle times, achieving production goals, and maintaining a high level of proficiency in core manufacturing processes.
  • Minimize quality and cost risks by identifying non-conforming material, performing inspections, and escalating issues before they impact customers or operations.
  • Support equipment reliability and operational efficiency by performing operator care activities, maintaining clean work areas, and partnering with skilled trades to identify and address equipment issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by actively participating in initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, material flow, and overall process effectiveness.
  • Strengthen teamwork and plant performance by communicating effectively with peers and support teams, completing required training, and remaining flexible to support changing business and production needs.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 

  • Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.  

Qualifications

Additional Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience operating CNC machines. 

  • Ability to read blueprint.

  • Familiarity with measuring instruments.

  • Basic math skills (decimals, fractions, tolerances).

  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.

 

Hourly Rate:  $20.51 - $23.75/hr

Shift Premium:  $1.00/hr
