Criteria:
- Promotion Eligibility: Team members can be promoted to Zone Team Lead only after meeting the primary qualification criteria.
- Probation Period: Newly promoted Zone Team Leads will undergo a 2-month probation period.
- Performance Review: At the end of probation, a 30-minute review/test will be conducted by the Production Manager to confirm permanent placement.
- Leadership Participation: Zone Team Leads must actively participate in weekly Leadership meetings and Gemba Walks.
- Leadership Development: Must complete the Leadership course as designated by Management.
What a Day in Your Life Looks Like:
- Safety of Team Members

- Safety Observation: Zone Team Leads should actively monitor safety behaviors of all team members within their zone and evaluate workplace conditions. Any issues needing support must be communicated to the Supervisor and Maintenance as necessary.
- Coaching & Escalation: For example, if a team member is not wearing required gloves, the Zone Team Lead must address the behavior through coaching and mentorship. If the behavior continues, escalate the issue to the Supervisor.
- Maintenance Requests: If equipment like an electrical cord is damaged, the Zone Team Lead must submit a maintenance request promptly.
- Equipment Inspections: Ensure daily inspections of cranes, forklifts, and other required equipment are completed at the start of every shift.
- AM Calendar Management: Oversee that Autonomous Maintenance (AM) calendars are completed daily and submitted to the Supervisor monthly.
- BBS Audits: Conduct Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) audits weekly and submit the results to the Supervisor.
- Expertise in Morgan Truck Body literature

- Zone Team Lead should be able to read and understand the following thoroughly and be able to train team members for the same.

2. Reporting Substitution/Scrap Sheets and Parts Request Sheets

- Scrap Sheet Management: Zone Team Lead should ensure scrap sheets are accurately completed and submitted daily and provide training to team members on this process.
- Parts Request Compliance: Ensure Parts Request Forms are submitted within defined process times by shift and product line.
3. Andon Schedule & TAKT Management

- Andon Schedule & TAKT Understanding: Zone Team Leads should have a thorough understanding of the Andon schedule and daily TAKT time.
- Work Content Management: Ability to comprehend work content for each unit and effectively manage or assist labor to complete units within the TAKT cycle, ensuring 100% daily schedule attainment.
- Efficiency Calculation & Improvement: Responsible for calculating efficiency within each work center in their zone and implementing corrective actions to improve any substandard performance.
4. Labor Management

- Labor Coordination: Zone Team Lead should communicate with other Zone Team Leads to understand labor requirements and adjust labor based on the Andon schedule, considering the skill sets of team members.
- Meeting Leadership: Zone Team Leads should lead weekly PPS meetings and have a full understanding of all data displayed on the board.
- Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Zone Team Lead should analyze efficiency data and proactively address work centers performing below plan.
- Skills Management: Zone Team Lead should collaborate with the Supervisor to plan, manage, and maintain Zone skills matrices, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.
5. Tooling availability and Maintenance

- Tool Management: Zone Team Leads must ensure team members have all necessary tools within the work center to perform their jobs efficiently and are responsible for tool maintenance to prevent downtime during shifts.
- Tool Vending Operations: Zone Team Lead must be proficient in managing tool vending via MSC machines and understand their operation.
- 5S Program Leadership: Zone Team Lead must actively manage 5S within their zone, ensuring all tools and equipment have designated homes and that team members adhere to 5S policies.
- Audit & Reporting: Zone Team Lead must complete weekly 5S audits, posting results and corrective actions on PPS boards.
- Continuous Improvement: Zone Team Lead must complete monthly 5S projects with supporting photos to demonstrate progress.
6. Training new team members

- Training & Onboarding: Zone Team Lead is responsible for training new team members and ensuring they complete the Andon Schedule during their learning curve.
7. Quality of Product – Work Center Containment
-
- Quality Ownership: Zone Team Lead is responsible for the quality of products within their zone and must have a thorough understanding of all relevant quality standards.
- Defect Prevention: Ensure that only defect-free products are produced and maintain strict adherence to quality protocols.
- Training: Lead the training of new team members on quality standards to uphold consistent product excellence.
- Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action: Collaborate with the Quality team to complete RCRA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) for any Infant Warranty issues or top Defect Per Unit (DPU) items identified from weekly Zone DPU data.
8. Play of the day

- Schedule Awareness: Zone Team Lead must stay informed about the play of the day practices and high RE content units scheduled in their work center.
- Proactive Communication: Effectively communicate any missing resources (materials, tools, etc.) with other Zone Team Leads in advance to prevent interruptions during the TAKT cycle.
9. Next Shift Setup

- Next Shift Setup Knowledge: Zone Team Lead must have a strong understanding of the “Next Shift Setup” process based on the Andon schedule and ensure their work center is fully compliant.
10. Andon System
-
- Andon System Expertise: Zone Team Lead should be able to read and interpret the Andon System HMI and be skilled in using the Morgan Andon light/horn response system.
11. Developing Leaders
-
- Leadership Development: Zone Team Lead is responsible for developing the next Zone Team Lead.
- Team Lead Growth: Zone Team Lead is responsible for the development of Work Center Team Leads.
12. PPS Boards
-
- Visual Factory Knowledge: Zone Team Leads must have a strong understanding of Visual Factory concepts and all performance metrics for their work center and team.
- Performance Communication: Zone Team Leads should consistently communicate team performance to members and actively drive continuous improvement.
13.5S

- Cleanliness & Organization: Zone Team Leads are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in their area.
- 5S Expertise: They must have a solid understanding of the 5S audit form, 5S color codes, and the four levels of 5S achievement.
- Score Monitoring: Zone Team Leads should be familiar with the weekly and monthly 5S score trends for their work centers.
- 5S Auditing: They should be able to perform 5S audits effectively for their work centers.
