Since 2001, we have supported complex public infrastructure and capital improvement programs across education, healthcare, transportation, aviation, and civic facilities. Our team works collaboratively with public agencies and project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable standards.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented [Project Manager cum Civil Engineer] to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the operation and maintenance of the HHWP system by performing civil engineering inspections, condition assessments, design reviews, and technical documentation. The role will involve evaluating roads, bridges, pipelines, foundations, and related infrastructure; developing repair recommendations and engineering designs; preparing cost estimates, reports, plans, and technical documents; and coordinating field activities as needed. The position requires strong civil engineering fundamentals, AutoCAD and design experience, and the ability to work independently in a primarily remote, field-supported environment. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Required Qualifications
    • 10 years of civil engineering experience under a licensed (in the state of CA) professional engineer, and Engineer-In-Training certification (CA)
    • Professional Civil Engineer License (CA)
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Under the supervision of the HHWP Senior Civil Engineer, this staff engineer (civil) will perform civil engineering duties and tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the HHWP system.  Duties are likely to include, but not be limited to, the following:
      • Inspect roads and bridges, and prepare condition assessment reports
      • Inspect large diameter pipelines and foundations, and prepare condition assessment reports
      • Evaluate high voltage transmission lattice tower footings and design repairs
      • Prepare and/or review technical designs
      • Prepare and/or review engineering documents
    • Essential knowledge, skill, and abilities:
      • The principles, practices, and methods of civil engineering; construction, maintenance, and repair methods and procedures; research techniques, report writing, and communications.
      • prepare engineering designs, plans, details, and drawings manually or using AutoCAD; prepare cost estimates; perform mathematical calculations; gather data for analysis; use engineering computer software; maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of people; understand, explain, and apply pertinent laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances; communicate orally in a clear, understandable and persuasive manner; and compose clear and understandable written reports, correspondence and memos.
    • The as-needed staff augmentation assignment is on-site, required by SFPUC, working at Moccasin, CA. The work schedule shall be as mutually agreed with HHWP but must maintain a full-time (80 hours over 2 weeks) schedule. Travel time commuting to and from the office located in Moccasin, CA is not billable.
